My experience with Argus Car Hire was nothing short of a nightmare, showcasing a stunning display of incompetence from start to finish. They claim to offer reliable car rental services, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Their lack of responsiveness to customer issues is appalling. When faced with a problem, their go-to response seems to be that they cannot help because the issue wasn't reported beforehand. However, the irony is that these problems only manifest themselves when you arrive to pick up the car at the designated time and place. Upon encountering an unresolved issue at the car rental counter, contacting Argus for support only led to further frustration. Their customer service team was quick to wash their hands of the situation, stating they were powerless to assist because we hadn't contacted them before the pickup date. But how could we have anticipated an issue that did not exist until that very moment? This circular logic leaves customers trapped in a no-win situation. This entire ordeal speaks volumes about the lack of coordination and responsibility between Argus Car Hire and the actual car rental providers they partner with. It's a clear indication that their operational model is deeply flawed, prioritizing contracts over customer satisfaction and support. Dealing with Argus Car Hire has been a horrific experience, underscoring a complete disregard for customer service and efficiency. I strongly advise against using their services unless you're prepared for a potential cascade of unresolved issues and a total absence of support when you most need it.

I reserved a rental car through Argus Care Hire for pick-up today (11/26/23) at Easirent Car Rental, Charlotte Douglas Airport, in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA). I had all the required documents (i.e.- Driver's license, passport and credit card).

When the rental agent was registering me (while eating Flaming hot Funyuns at the front desk), he asked me if I had full coverage. I answered honestly that I have liability only through my State Farm policy. He then said that he couldn't rent to me. I asked him if he could show me in the Argus Care Hire Voucher, where it stated in plain English that I needed full coverage.

He said that he wasn't familiar with the Argus Care Hire booking voucher and that it would be illegal to rent to me. I then asked to speak with the manager. He said that the manager would tell me the same thing. (Side note: When a customer asks to speak with a manager, the answer should always be yes).

I then asked him if he would refund the money charged on my credit card since I was denied the rental. He told me that I had to contact Argus Car Hire for that.

When I reached out to Argus customer service about the refund, the agent said, "I can see that your rental package currently includes no insurance. In order to collect the car, you will need to provide proof from your credit card provider that you have sufficient LDW coverage. Alternatively, the supplier will offer this coverage, which can be purchased at the desk on arrival." The Easirent agent didn't offer me any insurance purchase options, nor did he recommend I call my credit card company to see if I had the required insurance coverage (before I caught a Lyft back to my house).

I had no idea that my credit card company offered rental car coverage. I was basing my insurance coverage off of my regular auto insurance policy.

Here's the additional kicker... the Argus Care Hire rep told me he would open a claim about my refund and "the claim will take a maximum of 20 working days to be resolved" (that's almost a month) and we will contact you within the first 48 working hours by email." I find it interesting that a company can take my money in an instant, but it takes roughly a month to give it back (especially when I never got the rental vehicle)?

I called my credit card company and was told that between my regular auto coverage and their coverage, I should have had no problem renting a vehicle. The credit card agent then e-mailed me a letter that states, that I am eligible for coverage under their Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver benefit.

I called back to Easirent to see if I could speak withe someone about still getting the rental because I now had a document from my credit card company regarding the insurance coverage.

Of course, no one answered the phone. Argus Care Hire's website states, "No refunds will be given for customers who do not show up for their bookings, customers unable to pick up their vehicle because they do not have the required documentation will also be considered 'no-show's' and will not be entitled to a refund." The Argus Car Hire Voucher has a Checklist that shows the 4 documents needed to rent, and proof of full insurance coverage is not one of them. I'm not a person who rents vehicles regularly, so I am unfamiliar with all the benefits offered by my credit card. Both Argus and Easirent should provide the consumers with information regarding the insurance requirement and should put something in place to ensure the customer has proof of the required insurance coverage before allowing them to reserve a vehicle.

Otherwise, they get to keep everyone's money who has the same experience. Maybe that's the point of not having something like that in place.

I will fight them tooth and nail to get back my money for a service I didn't get.

Great information! The checklist on the first page of the Argus Car Hire document should include an entry that clearly states to bring your existing auto insurance card (if applicable), and to contact your credit card company to have them e-mail you the document needed for your car rental. It doesn't make sense to bury information that is critical for rental further down in the volume of Terms & Conditions.

CUSTOMER BEWARE. FRAUDLENT. SCAM. RIPOFF. I booked a car through Argus Car Care and was charged even though no car was provided. Upon arrival in a new city in the early evening, I walked to the airport car shuttle location. After waiting for a lengthy period of time, I learned the car rental company had already closed and wouldn't be providing shuttle service nor rental cars until the following morning. When booking the car through Argus, there was no notification about the business hours of the car rental place. In fact, Argus happily accepted my reservation for a time that was impossible to pickup, due to the rental car company being closed! The car company phone system confirmed they had closed an hour prior to my arrival at the shuttle location. I was left stranded, without a car, in a foreign city! I contacted the rental car company the following morning and they apologized for the situation. They promptly cancelled my reservation but referred me to Argus for the refund. I contacted Argus and they refused to issue a refund. I escalated to a supervisor / manager on duty. She also refused to issue a refund but agreed to open a "case". After multiple email exchanges and a few days later, Argus closed the "case" with a statement saying they wouldn't issue a refund. This is a fraudulent company operating in a shady manner. Their business practices take advantage of people and their customer services is absolutely TERRIBLE. CUSTOMER BEWARE and avoid this company at all costs. Attorneys: Contact me if interested in going after this company.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Managed to get the business and personal email addresses of the CEO and complained to him.

Proves the value of going to the top when you can.

Annoy the boss and he annoys those beneath him. Thanks for your help and interest.

Booking ID DE79264****I booked a car for collection at Leipzig railway station in September. When I got there I was told by the agent that there were no cars available. Argus meanwhile had taken the full hire charge from my credit card account. When I contacted them about this I was told that as I had not collected the car that I forfeited the hire charge. How could I have collected a car THAT DIDN'T EXIST!!! To date I have failed to receive a refund despite numerous email messages and chatbot requests. This sort of carry on is verging on unlawful. How can a company legally charge for a service they did not provide?

I rented a car from dollar online and got to my destination in Puerto Rico, they want to add on more than 100 dollars in fees and a large deposit, that's not what was agreed, so I cancelled, and the cancellation fee is as much as the rental how is this legally justify they did not work nor give services to earn the money they stole from me. How does a group of people running a business steal money without being accountable for it. These people run a criminal enterprise, robbing others without services rendered.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and disappointment with my recent experience at the Venice branch of arguscarhire. I made a reservation for a rental car for seven days, paid the rental amount in full, and also paid for insurance in full, well in advance of my planned trip. However, upon arrival at the Venice arguscarhire, I was informed that my booking had been canceled without any prior notice or explanation and, to my utter disbelief, no refund would be issued. I was informed that the only refund possible would be from the insurance company. This is, in my opinion, daylight robbery. I find the manner in which arguscarhire Venice has treated my booking and insurance payment to be nothing short of disgraceful and unprofessional. I made my reservation in good faith, paying in full for both the rental and the insurance, and expected to receive the services I paid for. To cancel my reservation without providing any justification, notification, or compensation is not only a breach of trust but also, I believe, a breach of the terms of our agreement. I strongly urge you to review your policies and procedures regarding cancellations and refunds and to rectify the situation immediately. My trip to Venice has been overshadowed by the stress and inconvenience caused by your company's actions. I am extremely disappointed with your lack of communication, unprofessional behavior, and blatant disregard for your customers. Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that I will not recommend arguscarhire Venice Car Rental to others. I intend to share my unfortunate experience with family, friends, colleagues, and on social media and review platforms. Prospective customers deserve to know how arguscarhire Car Rental treats its customers and should be aware of the potential risks involved in doing business with your company. In conclusion, I expect an immediate and satisfactory resolution to this matter, including an explanation and an appropriate refund. Failed to receive car..

In 20 years of renting cars around the world I've never had such bad experience and such useless customer service.. I was left stranded at 2am with elderly mother and child in foreign country without a car as it was refused by the actual car suppliers due to us not having IDP (on UK license). It is not mandatory according to Lithuanian and British governments. It is NOT required by the car suppliers either! It was for some odd reason though on the booking confirmation ticket that you'd open when actually collecting your car. I have spoken with the supplier directly whom advised that if we would have made the booking with them directly we wouldn't be required to provide IDP. When speaking with Argus so called customer service they played the blame game referring to the booking ticket rules (that go against government and actual supplier rules) and reminding me that I have agreed to this. They refused to speak with suppliers to clarify this as well refused us refund. If you want to save yourself time, money and ruined holiday - don't use Argus! Go to your car hire places direct no matter how small they are!

Buenos días, Hemos llegado el 16 a la 00h45 de la noche en el aeropuerto de Sevilla. Una reservación echa con OK Mobility que tenía que venir a buscarnos en el aeropuerto para recojer 2 coches en su oficina. Nos hemos quedado de la 01h00 de la noche asta la 06h00 en el aeropuerto con una Nina de 3 anos y dos ninos de 12 anos a esperar y buscar una solución que nunca hemos encontrado. La reservación fui el día 16/08 a la 00:45, pues en la noche. Como no avía nadie de OK Mobility he llamado Ok Mobility pero nadie me a cojido el teléfono. He hablado por el chat con senor Mohamed que me ha dado el número de teléfono de Argus car Hire de urgencia. La mujer de Argus car Hire que he tenido al teléfono del buro de Barcelona la noche me decía que era a la 12:45 del dia. Cuando nos fuimos al buro de Ok Mobility por la mañana la senora Lucie an confirmado que era bien a la 00:45 la noche del 16 al 17 y que avía unos de los hombres que an venido a buscarnos en el aeropuerto. Y había escribió en un email que nos avia esperado de la 00h45 haya la 01h35 en el aeropuerto. Pero como no avía nadie yo me fui con un taxi y lo he pagado 26 para ir y 26 para volver a l'aéroporto. (Espero que ustedes me lo van reembolsar lo justificado están en copia de este email). A llegar en la oficina a la 01h00 de la mañana todo estaba cerrado y el coche de la Shuttle estaba ahí. Ollect point was empty car park, no one to help and no refund

There was no Argus office at the airport and the car collection point was just an empty area of the carpark. No one was there so I telephoned the help desk but no answer. Called Argus head office who confirmed our booking was fine and checked time and location, but they also couldn't contact the local agent. Stranded, miles from hotel, we had to pay for emergency transport. But when we got home Agrus changed their story, saying we weren't there on time, even though we were on phone to them within 7 minutes of collection time asking where the car is.
